OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a seasoned software engineer to lead the technical design and development of the application layer of our Radical SDK. They will be a proactive self-starter who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges, while leading a team of talented developers.

They will need to feel comfortable with an 80/20 split between coding and leadership tasks. A recent history of being heavily involved with code, designing efficient structures and utilising appropriate design patterns will be expected so that they can lead by example. They will also need to feel comfortable being able to communicate architectural design decisions clearly to all involved parties, regardless of technical knowledge. These will most often be development, UX design, project management and commercial teams. And may at times be customers as well.

They must be a team player, excited by the prospect of not knowing all the answers up front. They enjoy working with other talented people to develop greenfield technology such as immersive (VR/AR) and real-time networking solutions.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and development of the Radical SDK application layer.
  • Able to clearly articulate architectural design changes both to the product and development teams.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the correct processes for productive software development that have been defined by the Team leads and agreed by the team.
  • Providing support and input for the PM during sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Lead the execution of the software development as per the architecture and project plan.
  • Reviewing merge requests to make sure they adhere to the agreed scope and architectural plan/design.
  • Coach developers on development processes and practices in a productive way – to improve execution on product. Some of these will come from the Lead’s tacit expertise and experience but should be added to handbook (made explicit) progressively.
  • Coach developers in understanding the importance of following the plan, communicating, raising issues, and costs of not following these practices.
  • Let developers know when processes and practices are not being followed, on behalf of effective team productivity, indirectly on behalf of the Product Owner. And will raise to the Product Owner if needed.
  • Highlight potential design changes that may be required mid-sprint/delivery to the TD and have input in how to move forward.
  • Essential Skills & experience

  • Excellent knowledge of C#.
  • Commercial software experience working with a 3D engine, this could be CAD, games etc.
  • Has worked on commercial, long term software that required maintenance and iteration based on customer feedback.
  • Has delivered software under commercial release constraints.
  • Commercial experience with GIT and excellent understanding of GIT workflows.
  • Experience and familiarity with working practices such as Agile, Lean, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps
  • Bonus Skills & Experience

  • Proven commercial experience with the Unity engine a big plus.
  • Has extended the Unity engine and not just built with vanilla tools.
  • Knowledge of C++, JavaScript, Angular, Python a plus.
  • EVERYONE COUNTS
