OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a pro-active software QA engineer to join and support the development and commercial teams during some exciting growth in the greenfield areas of immersion and collaboration. You are a natural problem solver who enjoys getting development builds up and running so they can rigorously test for defects. You will take on a few roles in the business – handling manual QA for various cutting-edge VR/AR hardware, along with testing our collaborative framework and supporting automation of QA processes and reporting.

You’ll team up with highly capable, friendly, supportive individuals – developers, UX designers and product owners – to help build an engine that allows people to work together better, especially on 3D content.

This is an in-office role but additionally, you may travel (COVID permitting) with the commercial team to showcase the product to customers, providing technical support and keeping everything running smoothly when out on the road.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop manual testing strategies for virtual and augmented reality applications.
  • Collaborate with the development team in delivery to ensure that new work is functional, of high quality and doesn’t introduce regressions.
  • Be the gatekeeper for users, rigorously challenging functionality, bug fixes and new releases.
  • Perform detailed manual “White Box” testing, reporting and diagnostics, at the Pull Request level.
  • Clearly track and communicate bugs to the development team so issues can be fixed rapidly
  • Handle incoming reports from our customers who may have bugs or issues in a positive, constructive manner.
  • Assist the software release process and any benchmarking.
  • Occasionally support the team with demos both onsite and offsite in conferences and with customers globally (COVID permitting).

    • Technologies & skills

  • 2+ years commercial working experience as a QA Engineer or testing a 3D software product.
  • Familiar with testing 3D applications such as video games, simulation software, or CAD.
  • Experience with API testing (Postman etc.)
  • An understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – with a desire to work closely with others.
  • A high level of organisational skills.
  • Technically literate: able to edit configuration files, collate logs, etc.

    • Preferred experience

  • Experience with VR/AR hardware and/or User Experience.
  • Experience of Docker.
  • Experience working with (not necessarily for) enterprise software companies in a B2B environment.
  • Familiar with issue trackers and CI/CD infrastructure (such as Jenkins, GitLab etc).
  • Bonus: Have written manual test playbooks previously, and perhaps written automated tests.
  • Bonus: Working knowledge of C# (our core language), C++, Python, Bash or JavaScript.
  • Bonus: Understand low-level concepts in Linux or Windows administration (e.g. building systems from scratch, automating installs, diagnosing issues).
